About BSOG

The Bangalore Society of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (BSOG) was established on 14th August 1968 at Vanivilas Hospital, marking its distinction as the first ObG society in Karnataka and the 24th member society of FOGSI. Founded under the leadership of Dr. Rathna Bai Moray, the society began with just 25 members and a vision to promote academic excellence and professional collaboration.

Over the years, BSOG has grown into a vibrant and dynamic organization, hosting several prestigious conferences, including the Karnataka State Conference (1978) and the 23rd All India Congress of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (1979), which notably generated a surplus—an unprecedented achievement at the time. The society continued to expand its academic and professional footprint by organizing national and international events, including the 18th Asian & Oceanic Conference (2002) and the landmark 43rd AICOG (2003) with over 5000 delegates.

BSOG has played a significant role in shaping leaders at the national level, with eminent members like Dr. Kamini Rao and Dr. Hema Divakar holding key positions in FOGSI and international organizations. The society also achieved milestones such as launching its website in 2003, initiating its annual conference “Gnanavarsha,” and acquiring its own premises in Seshadripuram in 2005.

With a strong commitment to academic excellence, community service, and women’s health, BSOG continues to contribute significantly towards advancing obstetrics and gynaecology. Today, it stands as an empowered organization dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes and fostering professional growth among its members.
